watermelon and wizards
last week, we winterpills had two shows: one at a small church in bucolic whately, ma, and one at club passim in harvard square (cambridge, ma). the whately show was part of a series known as “watermelon wednesdays,” where the mealy pink fruit is served during the set break while attendees watch bats fly around the steeple of the church. it was a nice evening though i got rather dehydrated. then friday, in quite the opposite of environs was our show at passim, where our probably-illegal beer stash and the attentive cambridge crowd combined with the droves of anxious harry potter fans outside to provide a strange and exciting backdrop for what was a fun and inspired show. (what a sentence that was.) earlier, lauren and i had been at the zoo, while other winterpills struggled with traffic. anyway, the next show is at the mfa in boston, which will yet again be an interesting backdrop. trust me, i enjoy this more than boring bars.
